Hospice Medical Director Certification
Professional certification affirms a knowledge and experience base for practitioners in a particular field. It signifies to employers and the public-at-large that the professional is competent, committed to career development, and dedicated to customer service and patient care. The professional standards inherent to a certification process also assures outside agencies and the public of consistency across the spectrum of practitioners who work in that given field.
HMDC® Credential
The hospice medical director certification conferred by HMDCB is the only certification specifically for hospice physicians primarily employed in this setting.
The HMDC® credential is granted by the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board to:
- identify hospice medical directors or physicians who provide hospice care who have demonstrated the knowledge and skills necessary to practice in a hospice setting at the current level of the profession.
- provide an objective national standard for hospice physicians or physicians who provide hospice care that can be used as a measure of professional excellence by interested agencies, groups, and individuals.
- enable hospice physicians or physicians who provide hospice cares to work more effectively with the hospice team and provide quality care
